Welcome to a new series about plugins.
What is a plugin?
A plugin is a software application that can add or enhance audio in a digital audio workstation. These come in two main forms, instruments and effects.
So let’s take a quick look at Sytrus, one of the most powerful plugins that comes with the FL Studio producer edition. Sytrus is a synthesizer capable of FM (Frequency Modulation), RM (Ring Modulation), Subtractive Synthesis and Additive Synthesis. It comes with six oscillators (operators), three filters, and effects. It also comes with a slew of presets covering various types of sounds, such as; bass, strings, synths, pads, arps, fx, and a bunch more.
If you are new to electronic music production, have no fear. There are several great sources for information on how to use this little monster to create amazing new soundscapes and instruments. I will be releasing articles specific to elements of Sytrus that I have become familiar with over the last couple years. Until I get these out for you, let’s take a look at some great resources currently available.
If you want to dive into the documentation, you can refer to the DAW manual within FL Studio, or check out the online support article about Sytrus.
If you are more visual, check out this video by SeamlessR. Feel free to check out and subscribe to his YouTube channel too.
