Ever wonder how producers continue to come up with creative new ways to express themselves with music?
Inspiration is a vital key to evolving in your music growth. It can make or break new producers. A constant stream of ideas can really give you the edge over the competition. This is the main recipe for success amongst several artists. Gaining new sources is a never ending challenge as well.
One of the best sources for me is listening to music made by other producers. Hearing what has been done already can unlock the potential for identifying what is new and interesting.
Another neat trick is exploring new genres outside your comfort zone. Don’t trap yourself into one style, expand and explore. Take pieces you really enjoy from these new influences and find ways to blend them into what you are already familiar with.
Lastly, don’t forget that some of the best sources of inspiration come from outside the music world. Visual art, raw emotion, human connections, science, etc. These are just a few examples of other interests that can spark inspiration for that next amazing soundscape, synth or masterpiece.
Ever wonder what a waveform is?

Does practice make perfect? I think not, but it’s the only way to get close.
Many producers will echo this, but it is important to build a routine. You need to establish basic guidelines for honing your craft. It also comes with a ton of dedication and perseverance. More importantly, you need to be patient with yourself. Expecting miraculous results in a short time is the recipe for failure.
Another major part of practice is breaking it down into chunks. Don’t try to master every aspect of music production at once. Instead, focus on specific areas you are interested in learning.
In due time, you will build upon your skills and it will show in your productions. So get to it, stay persistent, and reap the rewards of your hard work!
